mx-5170fv Chevy Cobalt Oil Light Pressure Switch Install Replace 2.2L Ecotech Z22SE

Brynn's Cobalt has had the oil light come on intermittently. We promptly checked the oil level and found it to be adequate. Oil pressure is something that is critical to engine operation. Fortunately these cars don't typically see oil pump failures, but more likely see the oil pressure sender (switch) or the switch connector and wiring fail. I took this opportunity to replace the oil pressure sender (because it is a cheap part). This is a simple switch that completes or does not complete a circuit (acting as a switch, have I said switch yet?) to tell the ECU whether or not the engine is receiving sufficient oil pressure.

After replacing the switch the car did still flash the oil light. Further inspection showed that the wiring harness that runs to the oil pressure sender switch has been rubbing on the engine. I moved it around a bit and now the car does not show an oil light at all. I haven't had time to further investigate, but I believe the wiring harness will need to be repaired or replaced in order to get this fixed.

A bonus to this video... we had to take the starter out of the car to access the oil pressure sender. So now we know how we would replace the starter if it were to fail!
